No Power overnight - GWL incompetence

A polar vortex hit us on the weekend of February 3/4/5 in 2023.

Temperatures without wind chill came down to -29 C

On Feb 3, a fire alarm happened at 7 PM. The fireman came and determined it was not a fire.

AT 9:30 PM we lost power in the building. The GWL service number told us it was an area power failure. It was reported to Hydro Quebec and put on their map. There was power on the street and all neighbouring stores and residences.

At 2 AM it was determined the power problem was in the building and not Hydro Quebec and the off-site janitor came in and resolved the problem, but there was still no power in the Penthouse apartments. He was not aware the Penthouse had no power.

At 7:30 AM the penthouse apartments measured about 5 degrees Celsius. Tenants called the GWL service number. We reported the issue with the GWL service number and they said that "Maintenance was aware of the problem" but did not have any further information

At 8:10 AM I called the off-site janitor "directly" and he was "not aware that there was no power in the penthouse".

He came at 9 AM and found a circuit breaker for the whole penthouse had tripped. We had power and heat again.
On Sunday morning of Feb 5 at 2 AM another fire alarm happened. The pipes froze in the gym. It was reported the night watchman was not there.

As of Wednesday, Feb 10 AM, no response to my email complaints. Nor were any apologies received from GWL.
The GWL emergency service number sucks.

$700,000 on a new roof and she doen't drain


GWLRA paid over 700K to have the roof re-done and it doesn't drain properly.  

The drains are in the middle of the roof.

They removed my toilet and left a s**t of a mess.

 They told us they needed to inspect the plumbing:

We would like to inform you that technicians will need to access to your apartment on Friday 3rd September between 8 am and 4 pm in order to inspect the plumbing components in your unit, the walls won’t be opened.

The visit will last at least 1h for each unit, the technicians will need to inspect all your bathrooms. Thank you to remove all your belongings next to the pipes and make sure that your bathrooms are clean for the inspection day.

This inspection is very important in order to prevent future plumbing issues.

Well it turns out they want to inspect the pipes to see if they can install washer / dryers into our units.  They took out our toilets and left a mess on my bathroom floor.  What a miserable experience.  


GWL sucks.

 What a mess.  Workers on the roof decided to cut all Videotron cables causing Videotron subscribers to lose the TV, Internet and phone.

It took 3 days for Videotron to fix things.

GWLRA removed my satellite dish without permission or warning.

Satellite dishes were moved to facilitate the installation of roof top safety anchors. We would prefer all residents use the available BELL Fibre option.

The RDL decision you have attached from 1997 referred to the original lease holder and a satellite dish that was placed on his balcony.

The roof top is not a part of your rented space, however we agree to allow BELL to reinstall as an act of good faith and with the understanding that this is subject to change without prior notice.

Coinamatic is a ripping us off.

The Coinamatic laundry machines in our apartment are ripping us off.



It is supposed to be 2.75 to wash.  When I swipe the card, it takes $3.00 off and does not start.  I do it again it says there is $3.00 less.  Then it takes 2.75 more and starts to wash.



This has happened before and I reported it.  They gave me a credit but do not fix the machines.

On Monday, September 11, I went to the apartment and saw the manager in the lobby.  I asked him to come upstairs.  He was too busy.  It would have taken just two minutes.

After getting zero responses from the manager and the Vertica customer experience officer, I made this video to explain the issues.  This is Day 57 since the flood and been ignored.

Holy shit - flood

The toilets were not flushing well on Sunday.

On Monday, there was a heavy rain.  The toilet and bathtub overflowed.  Water was flowing from upstairs to downstairs and to the floor below me.

Toilet over flow in the Penthouse

I got back from a weekend of sailing and there was an overflow of the toilet and bathtub.

Toilet and bathtub was dirty and there was some rising of the parquette floor.
